I'm thankful for peace with God.
Most of us have these kinds of thoughts running through our head when we hear words like this:
Note: I'm trying to be very specific here and making a slight differentiation between "the peace of God" (which is used frequently in salutations and benedictions, especially by Paul) and "peace with God." The latter is that which is ours by virtue of Christ Jesus, His life, death, resurrection, ascension, reign and promised return. It is ours by faith in Him alone. It is ours because we're justified – declared by the thrice-holy God to be clean. This is almost entirely objective – a statement of that which is true, real and, thanks be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, mine. It does not rest upon my subjective experience (whether I "feel" it or not; that's another topic for another day coming from a few phrases down in Romans 5).
I am very thankful for peace with God.
